In this agitated and busy world, we have less time and energy than ever to do the things that we love. No one likes to scold or give lengthy talks to their kids, it’s a waste of time and energy, and what we say usually falls on deaf ears; but in the heat of the moment, it’s the only tool we can think of.
There is a Better Way
Psychologist Jerome Bruner’s research suggests that facts and lessons are 20 times more likely to be remembered if they are part of a story.
So, we invite you to try the NiteNite Challenge.
For the next week, when your little one is misbehaving, instead of yelling, arguing with them, or not doing anything because you are tired, remember NiteNite is here to help.
Later that day, at bedtime, choose a story from the NiteNite app with the lesson you want to teach and read it to your kids. And over the next few days, as they ask for new stories, reinforce the lesson with a new one.
They’ll probably ask questions and explain why the story’s character acts a certain way. That is fantastic! It means that their little, amazing brains are already reasoning and making sense of the story.
We’ve seen first handed the miracles this kind of parenting has on our kids and we invite you to experience it yourself.
